He's the best, worst footballer the premier league has ever had.

don't think he knows what he's going to do half the time.

I thought it was interesting when Antonio argued in an interview that he benefited from a lack of coaching at an early age. Because, he said, young players often have the creativity and unpredictability coached out of them.

You could never accuse Antonio of being predictable, which is partly why he’s so effective.

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread
I think Antonio’s earned the right to be our leading striker for at least the rest of this season. Especially seeing as he’s seemed to have sorted his injury problems out.

Opting to play for Jamaica won’t have helped his cause though. That was a just a silly idea that genuinely might cut his career short.

I'm glad most are in agreement with what I called out BEFORE the game yesterday, that Moyes had fucked up with his bizarre selection of three of our worst players in the starting XI: Johnson, Masuaku and Benrahma. Not bad for a "boring bell end" and "site div", eh.

I would expect him to have learned from that and to play Coufal, Bowen and Lanzini from the start on Wednesday.

If the three chumps of Johnson, Masuaku and Benrahma start we will struggle to beat Brighton.

I agree with HUFTY BEAR on this one.

Any striker that comes in will need to be good enough to compete with Antonio now, in the hope he takes over from him as Antonio inevitably gets older.

Everything Antonio does well, he could do from RW position. If he has any time to think, he fucks it. I do not dislike him but he is a terrible FOOTBALLER, always has been.

This doesn't mean he can't be effective and win us points, however, if he doesn't score or assist then he has been detrimental to us, rather than neutral...if that makes sense.

It's clear that he hasn't had proper coaching from a young age, coming deep to get the ball when Coufal was running onto it yesterday sum him up. He should've held his position, conserved his energy and allowed Coufal to take the ball and play him in. There was literally no positive to Antonio doing that, even if he got the ball, he then would've had his back to goal, quite a way out.

Bit harsh that huffers, while Antonio's form has dipped a bit recently he's been superb for us the last 18 months. We do need another proper centre forward but Antonio is still worthy of his place for me.

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread
You can discuss who should have been playing, bla, bla, , bla, but regardless of that, whoever was out there, it wouldn't have made much difference to the outcome.

The fact is, we've been over achieving, which has been great to see. Moyes is doing, what Moyes does best - assembling a side on relatively small amounts,  and making us the best (so far) of the also rans. We're still a way off the top 3 (and Man U, once they get their act together)

Unless we come across another 2 or 3 players with the same ability as  Declan Rice, in the coming transfer windows, this will probably be as good as it gets, for us as a football club.

Who we do or don't buy, this January window, will  go a long way for me, to telling us whether we stay at this level (going forwards) and have an outside chance of making top 4 or winning a trophy - or, actually look like a side that will have a very good chance of making top 4 or winning a trophy.

Show us your real ambition board. Don't be stingy just because you know Moyes won't complain if you don't sign anyone this window.

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Alf, Moyes could have played Johnson and Coufal.

Arthur Masauaku is stealing a fucking living, I'd do a better job than he does.

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Yes, Moyes had talked prematch about how City had reverted to using width and the likes of Mahrez and Sterling and overloading with the wing backs which led to Arfur getting the nod I guess?. He just does not seem to either have the discipline or concentration over 90 mins to execute his defensive duties. He got his positioning wrong for the first goal I assume due to loss of concentration or his mind wanders or he simply lacks the football awareness or ability to track the opposition runners and movement over 90 mins? Either way, he will remain a defensive liability and I suspect we will see him moved on next summer. Brighton with Lamptey and Curcurella ( a very good player too ) will stretch us down the flanks again as Wolves did a week or so ago so we need to come up with something. I suspect Fornals will be in front of Cresswell but neither will be able to live with Lamptey's pace.

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Pretty sure Masuaku was put in the team to provide defensive cover down his flank.

A job he didn't do for their first goal.

Commentor surmised that this is why Moyes was slagging him off shortly afterwards.

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Arthur shouldn't be anywhere near the squad, Johnson and Coufal should have both started.

In all, I thought we played well, yes they had a lot of the ball but they didn't actually create all that much, we lacked threat going forwards and Antonio is out of form - he was fucking useless.

Johnson is good, but for me coufal should be starting.

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Johnson isn't a better defender than Coufal, no fucking chance.

Johnson has improved a lot, but for me in those "bigger" games Coufal has to start.

As for playing Masauaku who was at fault for their first goal, the bloke is a fucking car crash and people often get blinded by his once a game magical dribbles and twinkle toes.

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Think you have hit the nail there Alf. We have been better going forward with Coufal which has probably been our main strength this season, why weaken it.
It’s still two losses now, so time to make that switch back at RB. What can Johnson offer at LB if required?

Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread
The Johnson vs Coufal discussion / debate will continue. All about opinions. Johnson the better defender IMO ( a bit quicker and actually a tad stronger in the tackle, better positional sense ) while Coufal provides the better attacking option in terms of his link up play with Soucek and crossing into the box from advanced positions. Soucek perhaps needs his old mucker back to up his game too in the attacking sense? As mentioned, the times these 2 exchange passes is noticeable?

A tough call whatever way it goes as Johnson has done nothing wrong to deserve being benched ( again IMHO ) . I find it hard to agree with Master's suggestion that Coufal is the far superior player but like I say its all about opinions.

CARTERS 10:29 Mon Nov 29
Re: ⚽ Man City v West Ham - Official Match Thread
If Coufal is a better player why isn't he starting?
Opinions is what this site is about.
But, when some do'nuts on here think that Masuaku is a Premier League Footballer then they should take up Beat your neighbour out of doors.
He ia an apology of a footballer and jus look where he was for their first goal .............30 yards away.
A moody Prick and should never be near our first team squad.
Stick Johnson at LWB and Coufal at RWB if you have to but Masuaku??????????
GET RID PERMANENTLY AND WHILE YOUR AT IT
take Yamolenko and one or two other bits of dross.
